Playing Favourites with Jon Bridges

Jon Bridges, the producer of 7 Days Live plays favourites with GG before going on tour.

Favourite drink: I like to drink secretary drinks like Campari and orange - anything with a faux-tropical feel.

Favourite restaurant/café: I like Orvieto in Three Kings. We are moving to Three Kings so that has to be my new favourite.

Favourite takeaway: I like the Three Kings takeaway. I don't actually know what takeaways there are there, but they are my favourite ones.

Favourite colour: Three Kings Green.

Favourite classic film: A Pod of Jimbo's Own. This great 1940s film is often overlooked - it's about a young man who cannot go to war due to a disfigured foot, so he grows prize-winning peas, which instead of selling he keeps in his stable. Things get interesting when a new horse comes to town.

Favourite childhood memory: The time I was the best at spelling in standard four. I've got a lot of great childhood memories, but my spelling-based ones are my favourite.

Favourite party food: Cheezels, Twisties and Fanta. Unless it's orange, it isn't a party food. This can lead to the 'orange pitfall' which is where you serve oranges thinking that because they are orange they are a party food. They aren't and neither are carrots or pumpkin.

Favourite vice: KFC. Don't tell anyone. I must have KFC every three weeks.

Favourite song: ‘Only Living Boy in New York’ by Paul Simon and, to a lesser degree, Art Garfunkel. They came to New Zealand and played it for me.

Favourite meal: My wife Gemma makes a meat pie that is so good the name ‘pie’ ceases to be adequate to name it. We have had to give it a new title. It is called Porp.

Favourite cause: The sun causes all life on earth. I’d be mad not to name check it here. I also appreciate the fine work of Youthline.

Favourite label to put on your relationship: State-sanctioned

Favourite ‘90s TV show: Twin Peaks.

Favourite word: Onomatopoeia. I like it because it sounds like what it is, you know?

Favourite album: I like the Indigo Girls eponymous album. I’m not allowed to play it when my wife is home because she neither likes them, nor will she tolerate them in any way. Is it so wrong to love a Christian lesbian country crossover duo? I don’t think so.

Favourite type of groupie: I don't get any groupies myself, just a lot of people who think my name is Jeff Bridges because of the famous actor. They’ll come up to me and say, “Aren't you Jeff Bridges?” Sometimes I wonder if I am or not, but I don't think I am.

Favourite body part on you: My bum. I like it because it keeps quiet, keeps out of sight, does its job and is low maintenance. I reckon the arms could learn a lot from the bum.

Favourite body part on someone else: All the parts on my wife are great.

Favourite venue: Revenue. Get it?

Favourite lyric: “I want to tell her that I love her but the point is probably moot” from ‘Jesse's Girl’. Rock and roll should never contain the word ‘moot’ but it does!

Favourite candy bar: Bounty.

Favourite current TV show: We are addicted to “Breaking Bad” which we obtain legally somehow from... somewhere... oh, the phone is ringing, I have to go...
